NOTE: Read all installation instructions before beginning

installation.

GENERAL

These instructions cover the installation of a propane con-

version kit on the 48SS018-060, 48SX024-060, 588A018-

060, and 589A024-060 gas heating/electric cooling units that

are equipped with a White Rogers combination automatic

gas valve/regulator.

This conversion kit is to be installed by qualiﬁed serv-

ice personnel in accordance with these instructions and

all codes and requirements of the authority having ju-

risdiction, and in Canada, in accordance with the re-

quirements of the CAN/CGA (Canadian Gas Associa-

tion) B149.1 and B149.2 Installation Code. Failure to

follow these instructions could result in serious injury

or property damage. The qualiﬁed agency performing

this work assumes responsibility for this conversion.

INSTALLATION

Turn off the gas supply, then the electrical power to the

unit before starting the installation. Tag the disconnect

switch with a suitable warning label. Electrical shock

can cause personal injury or death.

This unit is designed to operate at 3.5 in. wg

(6.2 in. wg) of manifold pressure with liquid propane

(LP) gas. Exceeding this pressure will cause explosion

or injury.

Step 1 — Installing Mechanical Components —

Proceed as follows to install the mechanical components con-

tained in this kit (see Fig. 1 and Table 1) on units:

1. Remove burner access panel.

2. Disconnect orange sparker cable at ignition control.

3. Disconnect yellow ﬂame sensor wire from ignition

control.

4. Disconnect gray and brown wires from gas valve, and

the 2 blue wires from rollout switch.
